Candidate:  Lloyd Orrick         Position Sought:  Commissioner, Pekin Park District

1.  Why are you seeking this office?

Service to the community.

2.  What are your qualifications for this office?

Thirty two years working in business.  Twelve years serving on the Pekin City council.  A user of most of the park district facilities.

3.  Have you ever owned or managed a business?  If yes, please explain.

No.

4.  What role, if any, do you believe the park district should play in the attraction of new residents to Pekin?

The Park is a main contributor to the quality of life in Pekin.

5.  What role, if any, do you believe the park district should play in the promotion of tourism in Pekin?

The use of park facilities for events.

6.  What role, if any, do you believe the park district should play in the retention, expansion, and attraction of business in Pekin?

By continuing to be one of the best park districts in the state that contributes to the quality of life for a family.

7.  How do you envision the relationship between the park district and the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce or other business organizations?

Only by working together can more be accomplished in our city.  The Marigold is a prime example of working together.

8.  What are you thoughts about James Field? What should the Park District's role be in that project?

I believe James Field should remain an area for public use.  If a park/recreation area is developed the park district should lead the way.

9.  What are your thoughts on park district finances? Are there opportunities to cut expenses? Specifically, where are those opportunities? Are there areas where spending needs to be increased? Specifically, where does spending need to increase and where would the money come from?

I believe the park district offers a lot of service with their tax money.  I also believe in continuous improvement in doing things better.

10.  What do you see as the role of a park district board commissioner?

Work together as a team to set policy for the park director to implement.

11.  If elected, what would be your top three priorities?

Serve the people to the best of my ability.  Insure the needs of the people are being met.  Improve the park for the next generation.

12.  At the end of your term in office, how will you know if you've been successful?

The Pekin Park District continues to be the main asset to the quality of life in Pekin.
