Chamber Committees
July 4th Committee

     The Pekin area has a number of assets that contribute to a vibrant business environment.  "Quality of Life" events like the July 4th celebration are among those assets.  The Chamber assumes a leadership role, collaborating with others to maintain, improve and expand upon the events.

Strategic Plan Responsibility

Goal 2:  Stimulate community growth

    Strategy:  Quality of Life  Assume a leadership role in events that add to the quality of life for area residents.

Committee Focus:  The planning, management and improvement of the July 4th celebration.

Examples of Activities

  • Develop new methods to improve the quality of the existing celebration.
  • Seek out and collaborate with organizations who can assist the Chamber in improving the quality of the existing celebration.

Authority:  Makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.  Can develop additional activities to support the above strategies.  Can develop sub-committees or ad hoc committees to address specific committee activities. 

Budget:  The 2008 budget includes a net profit of $6,000 for the July 4th celebration.

Schedule:  The July 4th committee meets on an as needed basis to plan the celebration.  Generally, the first meeting is held in February or March.

Measurements of Success:  Ensuring that the Strategic Plan is a living, breathing document, the Executive Committee will continually evaluate the appropriateness of the Plan's goals. The Executive Committee will also evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies and activities. On at least an annual basis, this committee will be evaluated on:

  • Quality of the celebration
  • Public reaction and comments about the celebration
  • Financial performance of the celebration compared to the budget
