Chamber Committees
Community Leadership Academy

   The Chamber, like any organization, must raise and efficiently use resources.  We need a pool of leaders and volunteers to keep our committees and events active and growing.  Therefore, we actively recruit potential leaders and volunteers, developing their skills and commitment.  

Strategic Plan Responsibility

Goal 3:  Ensure the Chamber is a strong, stable organization.

      Strategy:  Leadership Development  Develop future leaders for the Chamber and the community.

Committee Focus:  Develop, plan and manage the annual Community Leadership Academy  

Purpose of the Academy and the Program

Examples of Activities

  • Recruit applicants for the academy
  • Solicit speakers and tour locations
  • Solicit alumni participation
  • Coordinate a graduation banquet

Authority:  Makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.  Can develop additional activities to support the above strategies.  Can develop additional sub-committees or ad hoc committees to address specific committee activities.

Budget:  The 2008 budget includes a net profit of $3,000 for the Community Leadership Academy.

Schedule:  The Leadership Academy generally runs for 10 consecutive weeks, beginning in early January. The committee meets on an as needed basis, beginning in late September.

Measurements of Success

Ensuring that the Strategic Plan is a living, breathing document, the Executive Committee will continually evaluate the appropriateness of the Plan's goals.  The Executive Committee will also evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies and activities.  On at least an annual basis, this committee will be evaluated on:

  • Student Enrollment
  • Student critiques
  • Financial performance compared to the budget
