I used the IPad with a few students in my room who are having trouble isolating sounds within words. I used an app in the language arts section of the IPad called Build a Word. The students are given a word and then are to drag a letter to match each sound in the word. I like this game because it has boxes for each individual letter and when the student is done, the word is recoded for them to hear it. Another variation of this game allows students to hear the letter instead of the sound. I have also reserved the IPads for my Edison helpers to use with my kindergartners. The two helpers that come each week are very excited about using the IPads. I think this is wonderful motivation for the older kids!
