I frequently use the ap called Bluster! with my second graders during a reader's workshop station. Bluster is a language arts game that can be played alone on as part of a team. When played as a team, the game is displayed on opposite sides of the ipad so both students can use the ipad at the same time and work together to manipulate their responses. It is essentially a matching game that the students are able to race to find a set of three words in the chosen category. The language arts strategy can be matched according to the user and can focus on rhyming words, word prefixes or synonyms. It is is available in grade levels also, so as students become proficient in grade 2, they can move up to challenge themselves a bit more. It's a lot of fun for the students to race to try to find the correct answers and they are learning as they go. |
