Thank you for visiting our school website.
Washington Intermediate School is one of two Intermediate Schools in Pekin Public Schools District 108. Our population is approximately 530 students in grades 4-6, and approximately 45 staff members. We are fortunate to be housed in one of Pekin's oldest educational facilities. Our doors first opened to serve Pekin students in 1929 and with community support; our building was renovated between 1999 and 2001, providing us with state of the art classrooms while retaining the charm of a school house from years' past.
Washington is highly regarded for the rigorous education that is delivered by our outstanding teachers. Our students are taught higher level thinking skills so they may apply what they have learned to solve real life problems. Our teachers use best practices to plan units in order for students to see how concepts can be applied across the different subjects.
At Washington, our focus is not only on providing our students with a strong academic education, but also to ensure that their social and emotional needs are met as well, allowing us to address the whole child. Our school's mission statement is: “Washington Intermediate School, a visionary partnership of students, staff, and community, will focus resources to create a nurturing environment empowering all individuals to develop their fullest potential and become productive, responsible, life-long learners”.
