Pekin Hospital
Pekin Hospital, a 125-bed medical center, has been serving the local
community since 1913 and has continued to expand and develop services.
The hospital has approximately 700 employees, including over 170 physicians
in more than 26 medical specialties. Progressive and state-of-the-art,
Pekin’s medical community has committed professionals who provide
the expertise and caring to promote healing and good health.
Pekin Hospital’s ER1, a Level II Trauma Center, was renovated
in November 2000 to better address patients’ physical and emotional
needs. Pekin Hospital also has advanced their technology with LightSpeed
CT scanners – the first in the area – so information crucial
to diagnosis and decision making is readily available.
In addition, Pekin Hospital recently opened a Women’s Diagnostic
Center that is designed to be sensitive to a woman’s healthcare
needs. This Center has support groups in place for the emotional healing
needed in the treatment of some diseases as well. The renovated Baby Place
is one reason why the WHO and UNICEF certified Pekin Hospital as Baby-Friendly,
a level achieved by only one other hospital in Illinois, and less than
60 hospitals in the U.S.
An MRI center is also part of the Pekin Hospital campus, as is a cancer
treatment center. In partnership with OSF Saint Francis Hospital, this
center provides local residents with the treatment they need without having
to leave town. Complete prescription services, cardiopulmonary services,
outpatient surgery, tests and numerous education programs on a variety
of health issues are also available at the hospital.
