THE TAZEWELL COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT will host its First Annual FREE Women's Health Event on Thursday, April 3rd, at the Pekin Moose Lodge from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.    Emceed by Oscar-winning broadcast journalist, Colleen Callahan, "A Celebration of You" is an evening focused on motivating women to take care of their health through regular cervical and breast cancer screenings.  Seating is limited ~ for more information, call 309-925-5511.

PEORIA RIVERMAN have set a new goal ~ 10,000 pounds of clothes for Goodwill Industries on Saturday, March 1st.  The Rivermen face off against the Lake Erie Monsters at the Peoria Civic Center Arena with game time of  7:00 pm.   Donations will be accepted at the Goodwill truck, collection bins at the entrances and on the concourse.  Hockey fans who bring a donation will receive a coupon for one free 12 ounce soda that night only.

CULVER'S OF PEKIN in conjunction with National Red Cross Month, is among the more than 370 Culver's restaurants donating 10 percent of their respective sales on Wednesday, March 5th to their local participating American Red Cross chapter during the annual system-wide "Day of Giving" Fundraising event.  The local chapter will then use 100 percent of the funds within the local community.    Culver's was recently honored with the Circle of Humanitarian Award from the Red Cross for the substantial support that the company provided in 2007.

UNITED WAY OF PEKIN welcomes five new members to their board.  They are Angela Baptiste of Bergner's Department Store;  Anne Dierker of Pekin Hospital;  Tom Hornstein of Excalibur Seasoning;  Dr. Bill Link of Pekin Public School District #108 and Erech Virden of Caterpillar.  All will serve 3 year terms.
