Camp: After liftoff
After
the launch we headed back to the hotel. Mr. Ealey had
the student's sit down and write their initial reactions
about the launch. WEEK-TV showed up and did some interviews
for the 6 and 10pm newscast. We didn't have time to relax.
We were invited to a post-launch party in Port Canaveral.
Fred and Sharon Altman, along with friends and family,
attended the party. It was a good ending to a perfect
day. But, that wasn't all that happened. We went to the
beach. Kevin Jones had never seen the ocean before. He
was pretty impressed. Then, we went out for dinner at
a nice seafood restaurant. The alligator bits were great!!
Lastly, we made it to Ron Jon's Surf Shop. The kids had
a great time. It was an exhausting day. Just when we thought
it was over, the Pekin Daily Times needed interviews from
the kids. This was at 1:00am and we had to get up at 7am
to start heading for Pekin. Oh well!
