Teaching
and Learning
Where we are:
-
Great diversity in utilization levels…
-
Lacking quality software for tech integration: i.e. reading - Jostens
Where we want to be:
-
Openly & consciously commit as a building in the fall to a year long
study project focused on ONE educational area such as “Assessment.”
Focus staff development efforts/planning on this concentrated topic.
This “umbrella” study topic for the year would allow for different elements
(such as technology, stations, etc.) to be utilized throughout staff dev.
Days – but again, all related back to a central study theme of Assessment.
-
Develop a better understanding of the RAP model… planning, process, closure
-
Develop a better understanding of alternative assessment/authentic assessment
and how technology can be used as a tool in those efforts
-
Concentrate on grade level building training meetings as well as scheduling
integrated grade level meetings with Wilson to share ideas across town
Actions necessary to get there:
-
Align tech staff development initiatives with the focus on assessment and
the Start Grant

process & other funding possibilities (such as Hardees $1000 tech grant,
etc.)
-
Use technology as a support tool in our school-wide focus on assessment
-
Create an understanding of programs such as the fellowship program offered
in the fall
-
Continue to develop a vehicle through which teachers can share project
ideas such as “tech share fairs,” etc.
-
Keep the umbrella of Assessment in mind as we discuss possible project
ideas – i.e. tech fair centered around technology and its use for alternative
assessment

Where we want to be:
-
Investigate possibility of hiring part-time help (with financial costs
possibly split among the building and district) for concentrated project
work or lab coverage (cross-generational possibilities)
-
* * * Hire a team in the beginning of the year to help with classroom set-up
-
Conduct building-level research (through the district fellowship program)
