Selected from a field of 14 were
Peoria-based firms LZT and Phillips Swager and Associates.
Partnering were Legat Architects of Oak Brook and
Kenyon & Associates of Peoria. Wight & Co.
having offices in Downers Grove and Springfield
rounded out the group. "This was clearly a case
of the cream rising to the top", said Cahill in
referring to the process used in narrowing the field.
"Three teams working independent from one another
reviewed each of the proposals submitted, scored
the same based upon responses contained in the six
Schedules, and arrived at these four", elaborated
Cahill. "It was pretty remarkable at how the four
‘jumped-out’ and ordered themselves." Cahill declined
to elaborate on which firms ranked where but noted
that any one of the four would serve the District
and its community well.
The team will travel to the Peoria
area on Tuesday, then to Chicago Tuesday afternoon
returning Thursday to complete its Peoria firm tours.
A final recommendation is expected to be made to
the Board of Education for consideration at its
October 19th regular meeting.
