Wilson
and Washington 2000
Site
Visit Debriefing Meeting
February
16, 1999
Committee
members who attended the February 10 and 11 site visits
in the Chicago area met to discuss elements from each
site that we want the architects to considered. We reviewed
the different sites we visited and discussed different
elements from each site. We discussed the kinds of material
and treatments we wanted the architects to include.
Then we discussed other elements we want to still consider
or see.
- Reach
consensus on what kinds of materials/treatments we
want the architects to include:
- Each
set of pods had own set of bathrooms
- Moveable
walls at Westfield (check on different surfaces)
Clairage
brand. Moveable walls at Clearmont were worth checking
price (Emco)
- Lockers
- 16 inch wide (3/4 length off the floor) single
pin, titled top (Wilson)
- Bulletin
board track above lockers (Westfield)
- Consider
tinted glass in Learning Center because of glare
or make sure consideration is given to this situation
in relationship to computers.
- Wide
glass piece next to classroom door (Westfield)
- Acoustics
in community areas (gym and commons)
- Tie
in brick color from old Wilson as a trim color on
addition- feature strip of bricking between pre-formed
cement
- Auditorium
nameplates at Lincolnway
-
Rubber stair tread in one piece (North Barrington)
- Open
glass stairwells
- Security
entrance at North Barrington
- Indirect
lighting and accent lighting in certain areas (Learning
Center) (display cases) Schaumberg
- Put
in necessary curtains and other riggings that make
it a stage between Commons and Gym
- Light
fixture at Schaumberg for Washington
- Use
of wood trim/feature strips to bring accent and
color to learning spaces
- Use
of tile on walls and coordinated on floor to bring
life to space (especially seen in public areas)
- Still
want to see or consider:
- See
card-swipe security
- Architects
see Minooka School

pre-formed cement walls at (Healthridge)
- Consider
or see more examples of glass in classroom and hallways
