As
a part of our Learning Community 2000 grant, District
108 is committed to providing access to computer
technology for those who do not have access at home.
Our first attempt at providing this access was to
open our school buildings during the evenings. We
offered open labs in our schools over the past year
and half at various times and locations. We advertised
these events through our parent newsletters and
other sources. Unfortunately, the cost was not worth
the effort since very few attended these open labs.
Our next attempt is to allow students in grades
4 through 8 to check out laptops for overnight
use. The laptops do NOT contain Internet access,
and are only available for overnight use. Written
parental permission is required before checkout.
If your child does not have access to a computer
at home and would like to checkout a laptop from
the school, please visit the Learning Center to
pickup a permission form. |
