December 04 Willow School Nominated for Blue Ribbon Award Status
We learned last week that Willow Primary School has been nominated for eligibility as an NCLB (No Child Left Behind) Blue Ribbon School. More information about the NCLB Blue Ribbon Schools Program can be accessed by visiting their website.

Team Building
Mrs. Miller's and Miss Biederer's class have been working on team-building skills. Students were excited to make a spider web of yarn and learn how all classmates are connected. "If we all work together, we will have a great year," one pupil added. (Sunset Hills Primary School)

TIPS
This program is designed to offer a support system/continuing education program for District 108's new teacher hires. The TIPS program encompasses three primary purposes: To encourage the concept of life long learning, to facilitate the transition into first-year teaching, and to increase the retention of highly qualified teachers. Our mentors this year are retired District 108 teachers.
August 04 Paraprofessional Certification
District 108 Educational Assistants worked last year, through a partnership with Illinois Central College, to earn their paraprofessional certification.

Resources Database
EdTech Grant money funded several projects this summer. A group of teachers finalized a resource database for all grade levels.

Welcome Interns!
The Professional Development School, a partnership with Illinois State University, hosted an orientation for the Class of 2005 on August 20. Mentor teachers joined the Interns as they begin their year-long internship. Using the quality team concept of having two people in the classroom, they will work together to focus on the learning priorities of the children in Pekin 108.

Superintendent Receives Doctorate Degree
Superintendent Don White received his Ph.D. degree in Educational Administration from the department of Educational Administration and Foundations from Illinois State University. Congratulations
