Planting
Flowers
Sixty-one students from Broadmoor Junior High and
L. E. Starke Primary
planted two flower beds for the City of Pekin. Older
students designed
the beds with the help of Master Gardener, Beth
Wegner, while the
younger students grew marigolds to add along the
perimeter. Many thanks to Greg Ranney for organizing
this project and to the NUMEROUS AWESOME VOLUNTEERS!
The corner of Broadway and Court is BEAUTIFUL! |

Kids
Count
The education of our children is a priority and
concern for everyone living in the Heart of Illinois.
Our news coverage is full of the financial problems
school districts face, from closing and consolidating
schools, to increasing class sizes…the list
goes on and on. In fact, the cuts have gone so deep
many teachers are digging into their own pockets
to buy needed supplies for their classrooms. HOI
19 Kids Count and CEFCU will award $1,000 grants
bi-weekly to Heart of Illinois classrooms. |
