Executive Summary 

The purpose of this report was to study the effectiveness of the Washington Intermediate School web site with external visitors.  For this report, external visitors were defined as parents of District 108 students, citizens of Pekin, and visitors from outside Pekin.  The strategies used to collect data included an on-line survey, e-mail interviews, webserver statistics analysis, and e-mail analysis.  After the data was collected, it was analyzed using data and content analysis techniques.  All of the collected data and  analysis are available in the Appendices sections. 

The majority of external visitors are very pleased with the school web sites quantity and quality of content, design, navigation, and the download time.  In fact, many aspects of the web site had extremely high approval ratings, such as 97% feel that the web site keeps them up to date with current school events, 97% also feel that the web sites organization makes it easy to find the information they need, and 94% feel that the site is visually appealing.  Although the majority are very happy with the site, the report also highlights several  strategies that could be used to increase the sites effectiveness with external visitors.
