The SAI iniatitive breaks the school year into three cycles: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each cycle contains a look at specific learning objectives, various assessments, and lots of instruction. Each cycle starts with an SAI test that shows what each student already knows about the objectives. Like a pretest, the SAI test helps students and teachers tell where to invest their time and effort. Each cycle ends with an "I Can Do It!" report that shows what students have achieved. The Fall and Winter cycles also include parent conferences during which teachers and students help parents understand the SAI objectives and "I Can Do It!" reports.
