Brainstorming

WHAT IS IT?

Brainstorming is the free, uninhabited generationof ideas, usally in a group setting. It allows each participant to state his opinions in a nonthreatening environment.

WHEN IS IT USED?

Use brainstroming to unite a group with diverse ideas and needs. It can be used at all levels, preschool to the executive.

HOW IS IT MADE?

  1. Select a recorder and group facilitator.
  2. Generate ideas.
  3. Record the ideas, orally or in writing.

    Goals

    1. To generate a wide variety and extensive number of ideas
    2. To insure that everyone becomes involved in the process
    3. To insure that nothing is overlooked
    4. To create an atmosphere of creativity openness


    Rules

    1. No judgement (neither positive nor negative) allowed
    2. Equal opportunity to express ideas
    3. Quanity over quality
    4. Piggybacking or hitchhiking encouraged
