TASK Four: Addressing Year One Action Team Recommendations

WHAT?

Establish 3 Wee Wilson Community Schools Focus Groups organizations (parent group, community agency/business group, staff group) which consist of representatives who are decision-makers from their organization to gather additional input/guidance regarding the needs for the development of the Wee Wilson Community School. The issues to be addressed are

 

 

 

 

  • What program/services should be included in the Community School? (Explain ground rules for Brainstorming; Brainstorm the possibilities for 5 minutes, group into categories (same ideas/clarify similar), have the group sort/label the ideas, barchart the results from bottom to top, discuss/ share results.

Follow-up Chart with top priorities

On chart paper, write down ideas on the following questions…

  • "Based upon the top choices that we have identified, facility needs could there be in order for these programs/services to exist?"
  • "What are community and learning partnerships do we need to include to make these program/services available at the Community School?"
  • Share with them next steps in the DILT process.
  • "Thanks for being for here."

DILT Group Next Steps

Based upon the information gained through the focus group sharing…

  • What needs to happen first, next etc. and why? Develop a design sequence for the development of the Community School?
  • What are other possibilities that should be considered in the development of the Community School?
  • Suggested ways to secure state, federal and local funding resources that could provide human and fiscal monies for the Community School?
  • Others

Feed back from each of the Focus Groups regarding the listed questions under "What?".

The Feedback will be used to develop final recommendations to be presented to DILT in January 2001 and the BOE.
