TARGET: Prepare for a quality assurance visit from the Illinois State Board of Education to be conducted during the 2001-2002 school year.
  1. To understand the Baldrige criteria/ expectations for Educational Performance Excellence as defined by Koalaty Kid and to apply the criteria to present School Improvement efforts.
  2. To collect data to document self-assessment of progress of the school toward meeting the expectations of the criteria.
  3. To apply appropriate quality tools and strategies to identified goals in School Improvement plan and/or classroom instruction.
  4. To provide a variety of learning opportunities to experience and share the successes and challenges that these tools and strategies provide.
  5. To learn to use quality strategies and tools to assist in student, teacher, parent, administrator and other collection of assessment of school improvement and performance excellence.

  • Reviewed seven criteria for Performance Excellence as defined by Koalaty Kid during monthly administrative inservice meetings.
  • Reviewed rubric for determining stages of development- beginning, emerging and quality during monthly administrative in-service meetings.
  • Collected evidence by building to determine stage of development for each of the seven criteria.
  • Put evidence by building into a school improvement portfolio.
  • Shared evidence with other building administrators.
  • Provided a resource guide for each of the seven criteria for buildings to use as a reference for future planning.
  • Conducted quality tool training sessions for building teams.
  • Experimented with quality tools.
  • Shared examples of use of tools with all teams.
  • Shared examples of use of tools with others in each building.
  • Conducted Plan Do Study Act school improvement action training for junior high and intermediate school SIP teams.
  • Shared PDSA action plans/ recommendation with other teams.
  • Trained grade level meeting facilitators and conducted three grade level meetings to share concerns and strategies in SAI process.

  • Training building facilitators for quality tools and Plan Study Do Act action planning.
  • Continue use of quality tools training and sharing of uses during building school improvement days.
  • Conducting Plan Do Study Act school improvement action training for all primary buildings and central office during June.
  • Will share school improvement portfolio electronically on school and district websites.
  • Will identify top needs to all buildings to focus future administrative in-service to advance stages of development.
