  • Addressed the Superintendent’s 00-01 "CHARGE" to the District Staff Development Committee.

  • Provided orientation sessions related to re-certification legal mandates, procedures, and development/design of individual Certificate Renewal Plans.
  • Established an on-line assistance link for re-certification on the district web-site at pekin108/staff/recertification/index.html.
  • Developed improved communication procedures to assist staff seeking available resources/incentives available for re-certification, tuition reimbursement, tuition waivers, and course approvals.
  • Set up criteria for course proposals for the Professional Academy.
  • Attained ISBE Service Provider status in order to award CPDUs (Continuing Professional Development Units) for successful completion of district sponsored professional development activities, courses supporting re-certification.
  • Established and convened the district’s LPDC (Local Professional Development Committee).
  • Established LPDC meeting protocols to address the legal requirements of the Open Meetings Act.
   
 
  • Re-designing the district’s Professional Development Academy course offerings to assist non-tenured and tenured staff for initial certification or re-certification purposes.
  • Designing the following Prof. Development Academy course offerings for the 01-02 school year:
  • Year 1: SAI/Process & Procedures, Tech Basics I, II, Classroom Management, Special Needs Students.
  • Recruiting Prof. Dev. Academy instructors.
  • Engaging in collaborative planning efforts with IL State University staff to expand the Professional Development School Partnership to encompass Early Childhood – junior high school.
  • Exploring opportunities to realize the exchange of IL State University professors and district teachers to support the expanded PDS partnership.
  • Designing on-line access to staff for accessing incentives available for tuition reimbursement, tuition waivers, course approvals and re-certification.

  • Year 2: SAI/Learning Environment, Tech Integration I.
  • Year 3: Differentiated Learning, Tech Integration II.
  • Year 4: Professional Leadership, Literacy, Writing, Reading in the Content Areas, TESA.
