District 108 Special Education Mission Statement

| The
District 108 special education staff identifies
students with handicapping conditions and provides
individualized support services for those students,
their families, and District 108 staff to ensure
student success in the educational environment.

The
Pekin District 108 special education office provides
support, supervision, and resources to several levels
of special education service in the district, as illustrated
in a  visual
representation. The office staff members are involved
in office management; legal compliance; student identification;
support and crisis services to students, parents, and
staff members; curriculum studies; provision of related
services; and staff development. At the school sites,
special education teachers provide direct instruction
to students, and related services such as speech, occupational,
and physical therapy also provide direct therapy to
students
