The vision statement for Pekin Public School District 108 was put together through two projects. The first project was funded through a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education. Staff members participated in the following activities:

• Reviewed the research on Teaching and Learning
• Conducted site visits to lighthouse technology districts throughout the country to learn of best practices
• Developed through consensus best ideas of integrating technology with instruction
• Shared and refined after input a vision statement.

The second project was funded through a grant from the United States Department of Education. Staff, community partners, parents, and citizens participated through task force groups centered around the Learning Community 2000 project to refine the vision statement. They participated in the following activities:

• Conducted site visits to lighthouse technology communities.
• Developed through consensus best ideas
• Conducted community forums for feedback and reaction
• Shared and refined after input a vision statement.

A list of participants is attached. The community task force groups were open to all staff members, parents, partners and community citizens.
