| This is the fourth year Student Council has sponsored "Project Share." At Christmas, there are many area families who are having difficulty enjoying the holidays with their children because of financial strain. Student Council and Broadmoor Junior High staff and students try to ease that burden for some Pekin families at Christmas time. Gifts of toys and clothing are wrapped and delivered before Christmas to families recommended by Christian Civic Outreach. A HUGE thank-you to all families who donated this year and also to Mrs. Pam Nelson who organized the entire project. |
| Mrs. Link's transition class has been silent reading, along with the entire school, every Tuesday and Thursday for 1/2 hour each day. Her students decided to create web pages to share the books they have been reading. Check out their reviews, maybe you will find a book that you might enjoy! |
| Congratulations
to Mr. and Mrs. Greg Fairchild on their birth of their new baby
boy! Alex Gregory was born on Monday, December 11. Big sister Hope welcomes him home. Mr. Fairchild is the Assistant Principal at Broadmoor. The Fairchilds decided to pick the snowiest day of the year to have their baby! Pictures coming soon. |
| Home, Sweet
"Geobread" Home! Students from Mr. Fogal and Mrs. Chenoweth's 2nd period class have joined
forces with Mrs. Fogal's 3rd grade students from Willow and Starke to
introduce their geometry units with a yummy two-day project that is sure to
bring the house down. Students get to design a geometric house that would
make any gingerbread man proud! Using graham crackers for their walls and
roof, and frosting as "mortar," students construct their house and then
decorate it with different kinds of candies. Students will be figuring
perimeter and area of their houses, along with working with different
geometric shapes. The teachers would like to thank all of the parents for providing the necessary supplies to complete this project. pictures of finished houses |
| Mrs. Nevius'
Language Arts classes have been working on prepositions. They just
finished an assignment in which they had to first draw a winter or
Christmas picture, then they had to write an original poem. The
poem had to be created so that each line started with a
preposition. The classes did a great job drawing and creating
poetry. Take a look! Second Hour Third Hour Fourth Hour Fifth Hour |

A HUGE thank-you to Broadmoor's Student Council for their monatary donation, also. Dirksen and Broadmoor helped pay for the rest of the piano.
