December, 2003

Mrs. Nelson's class just completed a unit on the solar system. The class created their own "space aliens" to finish up the unit.

Student Council and Miss Jensen's class have been spending a lot of time together recently. A Christmas party with pizza and gifts was held for the students with everyone having a great time. The Bruin's Buddies also had an exciting day at the mall doing some Christmas shopping for family members.

7B are making gingerbread houses in math class. They have to have parallel lines, perpendicular lines, squares, rectangles, and four polygons. They also have to create a drawing to scale before creating their house. The students have had so much fun building these houses and they are beautiful to look at.

Mrs. Nevius' classes have been hard at work. They were given the task to write a Christmas poem that contained at least five transition words and were then asked to draw a picture that correlated with their poem. The students really enjoyed working on this project and it shows in their completed work.

Broadmoor students shined at the Pekin 108 Holiday Reception. A small group of choir students entertained the teachers and administrators. They sang several numbers that everyone really enjoyed. The Suzuki Orchestra also performed with another group of Broadmoor students doing a great job. The Christmas music put everyone in the holiday mood and was very much appreciated.

The Pekin Junior High Band performed Friday, December 12 at Edison School. The band and jazz bands put on an excellent performance with lots of great holiday selections. The band is directed by Mr. Perilles and Mrs. Janssen.

Mrs. Dorough and the choir put on quite a performance. The Christmas Concert was held on Friday, December 5 at Broadmoor. Several smaller groups performed along with the entire choir. An all male group from Pekin High School also performed. A big thank you to Mrs. Dorough for all of her hard work in making the evening so memorable.

The athletes who participated in fall sports were honored on December 8. The boys baseball and girls basketball teams were recognized for their wonderful seasons and hard work.
