| The Broadmoor Turkeys?? A wild turkey was sighted outside the school this morning. Turkey experts are telling us that it is a member of a large flock that has been sighted in the area and it is female. |
| Broadmoor's Student Council delievered over 1200 canned food items to Christian Civic Outreach. Students have been collecting food to donate for over two weeks. A HUGE thank-you to Student Council and Mrs. Nelson for all of their hard work in organizing the drive. |
| Five Broadmoor students, who are members of the group, "Advance Notice," recently competed at Herscher High School in Joliet in a show choir competition. Chris, Annie, Erica, Samantha, and Andria were part of the group that won first place in the AA Division and were named Junior Grand Champions. Congratulations to the group and their coaches, Gayle Wallisa and Amanda McArdle for all of their hard work! |
| Students from Team 8H recently participated in a "Poetry Slam" at Pekin High School. Mrs. Nevius from Broadmoor and Mrs. Renner and Mrs. Crosby from Pekin High hosted the event. Students were able to participate in several different categories. Everyone was very impressed with their performances! |
| Broadmoor 8th grader, Misty, recently competed in the Special Olympics. Misty brought home a 2nd place medal in Basketball. We are all very proud of Misty and her great accomplishment! |
| On March 9, Broadmoor students competed in the Illinois Grade School Music Association Contest held at ICC. Congratulations to all students who participated and placed! |
| Students in Ms. Haas 1st hour participated in an e-mail discussion of the novel, My Brother Sam is Dead. BJHS students exchanged responses to questions with students at Wright Academy in Wisconsin and Spencer-VanEtten Jr. High in New York. The students had lively discussions about issues that were raised during the reading of the book. |
| The Pekin Civic Chorus made a visit to Broadmoor recently to check out the new piano that they helped purchase for Broadmoor and Dirksen Schools. Ms. Moran and the students have loved using the piano for class each day, for practices, and for special concerts. The music students have recently been working on a special project involving the chimes. |
| The Scholastic Bowl Team has been having a fantastic season, especially after they got their brand new team shirts, donated by the Mitzelfelt Family. If you haven't made it to a match yet--there's still plenty of time! A HUGE thank-you to the Mitzelfelt's for the wonderful new shirts! |
| Broadmoor's very own art teacher, Ms. Courtney Borsch, will be featured at an Artist's Reception Friday, March 2 from 6:30-8:30p.m. at the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria Gallery II. Ms. Borsch's work will continue to be on display at the Gallery throughout the months of March and April. |
