| In language arts, Team 8H has been experiencing a poetry unit. Besides reading great poetry, we have been trying out for a "poetry slam" (a poetry field trip to the high school) where the students will recite memorized poems, read original poems, and perform skits using the poems as the scripts. Spontaneously, Mrs. Nevius's 4th and 5th hours created original limericks for Mrs. Kraus, the student teacher. |
| Mrs. Nelson's 2nd hour social studies class have been discussing the 1960's and the space race. Corey Wood, Bobby Michael, Dakota Behymer, and Jimmy Landrith spent a couple of days building their very own space shuttle. |
| Students are feeling the affects of having family members
and friends fighting overseas . Mrs. Melloy and Mrs. Stump decided
to have their students write letters to the men of the 182nd to show
support for their efforts. Mrs. Melloy is also taking donations to
send care packages to these men. Mrs. Borsch is coordinating artwork
from Broadmoor students to send with the letters. Gina Morss (reporting)
and Doug Smith (photographer) were also at Broadmoor doing a news
story for Channel 25. The story should air today (2/28) at noon and
again with the full story at 6:00. God Bless our men and women serving and the USA! Melloy/Stump 1st hour Borsch 2nd hour Melloy/Stump 2nd hour link to WEEK 25 for news story |

| Students in Mrs. Borsch's art classes have been using
food and items for creating still life drawings. First
hour was asked to bring in a breakfast food. Students in third
hour were to bring in "sweet and sour" items. In other words,
something they liked and something they didn't like. third hour |
| Mrs. Wicker and her first hour class completed a third edition of the school newspaper. The paper was published and given to all Broadmoor students and staff in February. Congratulations on another great issue! |
| The Outdoor Education Spaghetti Dinner raised lots of money that will go towards offsetting the price for students to participate in the program. Avanti's spaghetti was served, along with salad, bread, drinks, and cake. A little guy thought the "chocolate" cake was the best thing there! A big thank you to Mrs. Foss and Mr. VonBehren for chairing this event. |
| Students from Mrs. Wicker's class worked on designing games with the novel Call of the Wild as the theme. Game boards were designed with pieces and questions dealing with the novel. After the games were completed, groups rotated to play everyone's game. The students know lots of trivia about the book and characters as well as knowing about Jack London. |
| Congratulations to our girls 8th grade volleyball team. The girls defeated Georgetowne in the regional tournament and will advance. Way to go girls! |
| The Scholastic Bowl Team were victorious over Edison. The team rallied together under the direction of Mrs. Wicker to bring home a win. Awesome job, guys and gals! |
| Parents were invited to Broadmoor for Spring Student-Led Conferences on March 6 and 7. We had a great turnout and parents were able to see their students progress and discus their goals for the rest of the school year. |
| Three students represented Broadmoor at the recent Destination Imagination competition. The event was held at Bloomington Junior High on Saturday, March 1. Eric Hill, Kyle Graden, and Taylor Oedewaldt entered "A Video Adventure" and received 6th place for their efforts. Congratulations, boys! |
