May, 2000

Another graduating class passed through Broadmoor's doors on May 30th. About 200 students became Broadmoor "alumni" Tuesday evening at the 6:30p.m. ceremony. Dr. Nelson, Mr. Fogal, Mr. Bowen, and Mrs. Umholtz congratulated the students as they received their diplomas. Congratulations to all of the graduates and their parents and good luck to them at Pekin High School!
The "Broadmoor Trail of Achievement" was established this school year. Dr. Nelson and Mrs. Borsch worked together to start this recognition of students at Broadmoor. The students are selected by their teachers for "positive, consistent class participation, helpful, altruistic, responsible behavior, and excellence as a role model." There is a wonderful plaque that has been hung outside the main gym. Each student selected paints a Bruin Paw with their name and date next to the plaque, thus making the "trail." Congratulations to all of the students selected this year!
Broadmoor would like to announce the 8th Grade Award Winners for the school year 1999-2000. Students selected excelled in various areas. Some awards were given by the school and some were given by the community. Congratulations to the students and their parents for their wonderful achievements.
Mr. Fogal planned an exciting Honor Roll Field Trip for students who earned Honor Roll for the third and fourth grading periods. The students went bowling in the morning, to the park for lunch, and to Dragonland in the afternoon. Congratulations to these students for their very hard work!

They will receive a $250.00 gift certificate to Northwoods Mall, a Bradley tutor for a year, home computer, gift certificates for a pizza and a cd, and a special dinner down by the Peoria Riverfront.
