Student Council sponsored a "Spirit Week" with themes each day ending with a dance on Friday evening. Monday was slipper day; Tuesday--weird hair day; Wednesday--hat day; Thursday--twin day; and Friday--50's, 60's, or 70's day. Each day students were chosen who represented the day the best and prizes were given for participation. The students enjoyed a dance Friday night D.J.ed by Mr. Heisel. A HUGE thank-you to Student Council and Mrs. Nelson for all of their hard work!
Mrs. Melloy, Mr. Fogal, and Mrs. Ealey completed a project with their students and recently took them "on the road!" The students created books about math facts revolving around the theme of turkeys and Thanksgiving. The students created a story board, found clipart on the computers, created their books using Microsoft Word, printed, collated, bound the books, and then prepared to share them with 3rd graders. The students visited Mrs. Freeman and Mr. Theleritis's classrooms at Willow School; Mr. Wiegardt's classroom at C.B. Smith School, and Mr. Trowbridge's classroom at Dirksen School. The students did an excellent job and the 3rd graders all loved their books and math problems!
Mrs. Chenoweth's math students completed a project on M. C. Escher. The students learned about how Escher used geometry in his art work. Students researched Escher on the internet and completed geometric tessellation activities. The students finished the unit by making their own Escher drawings.
Broadmoor invited parents to attend Student Led Conferences on November 9 and 10th. Each team had their students prepare a folder of work samples to share with their parents. Grades, goals, progress data and self evaluations were also shared and discussed. Overall the conferences were very successful with 83% of parents attending.
Broadmoor art students recently painted a mural on the wall inside the girls locker room. A huge thank-you to Mrs. Borsch for overseeing this project.
Bush Wins by 3!!! Bush Wins by 3!!! Broadmoor students have chosen their leader: George W. Bush. Students registered to vote last week in their Social Studies classes and voted in a school-wide mock election on November 6. A very close race between the candidates...we will see how close our students were compared to the national election.
Republican or Democrat? That is the question students had to ask themselves as they voted in Broadmoor's Mock Election. The students have been studying the campaign and the issues in social studies classrooms and will decide who will lead our nation into the 21st Century.Bush or Gore...stay tuned!
