Congratulations to the following students who have earned more than 15 Bruin tickets since the beginning of the school year. These students have been recognized by their teachers. Students at Broadmoor can earn a Bruin ticket for being responsible, respectful, maintaining their personal space, being ready to roll and following directions.

The students in Ms. Jensen's class have been training for the Special Olympics. The students visit the park district every Friday and train in soccer, running, ball throwing and dance. We look forward to seeing them compete this spring!

Both 7th grade teams enjoyed days in Arthur exploring the Amish way of life. Team 7B visited Arthur on Friday, October 3. Team 7J visited on Wednesday, October 8. Both teams started out their day with a home cooked seven course meal served at two Amish homes. They then traveled to Rockome Gardens where a tour guide got on the bus. A tour of the Amish countryside complete with a history and a look into their culture lasted about 35 minutes. The teachers and students then enjoyed strolling through the Gardens and enjoying the beautiful day.

Do you know what a stroodle or an acceleryeller is? These are just a few of the silly words Mrs. Q used to teach a new way of learning vocabulary to 8S prealgebra students. Students were taught how to use interesting, eye catching pictures to help learn their geometry vocabulary.

Students in Mrs. Chenoweth's and Mrs. Roepenack's 3rd and 5th period classes had a poster contest. Each student designed a poster to help the class remember the different mathematical properties. The winning posters will be on display in Mrs. Chenoweth's classroom. Congratulations to the following students: 3rd hour: Mike, Amber, Carl and Chelsea; 5th hour: Lindsey, Amanda, Kelsey, and Ryan.

The girls basketball teams played a home game against Edison. The 7th graders were defeated in a very tough game and the 8th graders were victorious. Both teams had a roaring crowd cheering them on which made for a very exciting evening. Good luck to Coaches Onken and Roberts with the rest of their season.

Team 8H investigated the Mound Builder culture at Dickson Mounds, near Lewistown. Students participated in workshops to make arrowheads and coiled pottery. They also saw animal skins and learned about different pottery techniques. They learned how to decipher animal tracks and then completed a scavenger hunt about the Mound Builder culture. The team ate lunch at a picnic area and were very responsible on the entire trip. Great work 8th graders!
