Mr. Noonen, 7B science teacher, Dan Rees, Edison science teacher, and Linda Norman, Edison learning center teacher, recently went to Albuquerque, N.M. to present the results of the ISU/PDS Summer Science Workshop. The purpose of the ISU/PDS Science Workshop was to train teachers to use available technology to increase the science achievement of elementary students in Pekin School District #108. Teachers designed PowerPoint presentations around problem-based lessons utilizing the Illinois State Standards. All of the PowerPoint presentations can be found and downloaded for free from the following website:

Both 8th Grade Teams enjoyed a presentation given by two Civil War re-enactors. The two men, one representing the Union and one representing the Rebels, talked with the students about the war. Lots of interesting information was shared and lots of great questions were asked by the students. The presentation correlated with the 8th grade Social Studies unit on the Civil War.
Students from Mrs. Brown's fourth hour prepared an old fashioned radio
broadcast of the teleplay "The Monsters are Due On Maple Street" by Rod
Serling for Mrs. Melloy's fifth hour. It was such a beautiful day, we
decided to move the production outside. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful
weather and the efforts of Mrs. Brown's students.
