September, 2001

The students and faculty of Broadmoor showed their support of the victims of September 11 by collecting almost $2,000 dollars for the American Red Cross. Students brought in their nickels and dimes and contributed to the cause. Everyone wanted to do something to show their patriotism and this money raised will go to aid the victims of the terrorist attack. Way to go Broadmoor!!
"Helping Hands Reaching Across the Nation" was the theme of a flag created by staff and students at Broadmoor and Dirksen under the direction of Mrs. Borsch, the art teacher. Students of Broadmoor created the red stripes, made out of their hands, and wrote their names and a message on each hand. Students of Dirksen School created the white stripes. The faculty created the white stars and blue background also writing their names and a short message. The flag was proudly hung in the foyer next to the gym for all to see.
