| Mr. Heisel has been preparing his students for their first scientific procedure. He had his students write the procedure for preparing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He then tried to follow the directions. |
| Mrs. Cihla's 8th grade science class is studying
the prairie system of Illinois. They recently spent time designing
prairie board games, and then playing them, to demonstrate their knowledge
of short and tall grass prairies. Other activities in this unit include building wetlands, taking soil samples, prairie collages and a field trip to Wildlife Prairie Park. |
| Students in Mrs. Chenoweth's math classes have been working on a project dealing with codes. Mrs. Q visited the classes and showed them examples of different codes. The students then created their own codes and will later try to "break" each others codes. |
| Students in
two eighth grade art classes are participating in an art contest
offered by the sponsors of the "Illinois River Sweep" project.
The local project involves many communities in central Illinois located
along the Illinois River, with volunteers working together on a common
date to rid the riverbanks of trash and debris. The contest, promoted by the Lieutenant Governor of Illinois, requires students to create pieces of art from articles found during the clean-up effort. Having completed the construction of several sculptures, art students will be working in groups to paint and embellish their pieces before sending them to Springfield for the October 8th judging. Good luck to our BJHS artists! |
| The boys baseball team started out their regional play by defeating Illini Bluffs. They then went into the second round and defeated Tremont. Last night they were defeated in the championship game by Canton. This is the farthest our boys have ever gone before and we are so proud of them. Congratulations to the boys and to Coach Holcomb on a great season of play. |
| Students and staff at Broadmoor paid respect to the lives lost on September 11, 2001, by wearing red, white, and blue. Activities were completed in many classes regarding this particular day in history. Students and staff remembered, reflected, and hopefully will never forget. |
