BILT Minutes
March 7, 2001
Members present: Jeff Nelson, Stacey Melloy, Bill Heisel, Shelly Sipka, Nancy Schoenfeld, Holly Brown, Greg Fairchild, Jill Roepenack, Courtney Borsch, and Pam Nelson.
Student-Led Conference Survey:
BILT members were given the Student-Led Conference survey and results from last conferences. Members are to report to their teams if they feel any questions need to be changed, added, or deleted. If no changes, a comparison of the two conferences could be made.
Student Survey:
The School Climate Committee has come up with a survey to be given to students. Each team will get 30 copies of the survey to give to their students. It was recommended by the BILT team to NOT give the survey during transitions because students may not take it very seriously. You will be getting instructions on how and when to give the survey soon. Greg would like to have it completed before the end of March. The survey is comprised of six categories with a total of 58 "Yes/No" responses. The categories are: School Atmosphere, Equipment and Facilities, The School Bus, School Staff and Faculty, Individual Outlook/Attitude, and Other Issues.
Reading Quizzes
Jeff said that the entire school is to use the original quiz he made up for this month. The results are due by Friday, March 16. The results that are needed are the percentage of correct answers by question. For example: 19 out of 27 (70%) got #1 correct, etc… Jeff said that he would make up the rest of the quizzes for this school year (two more), so disciplines don’t need to get together to make those. There will be no discipline schedule this month.
School Improvement Plan
Check out the School Action Plan on the Website. Kelly has done a great job with links, etc… Great job, Kelly!
Budgets
Disciplines need to get together on their own to determine their budgets for the 2001-2002 school year. This needs to be completed and turned into Jeff by Thursday, April 5.
Grade Level Meeting
The next grade level meeting will be Wednesday, March 21. More information later.
ISAT dates
The test will be administered the week of March 26 – 30, with make-up the following week (right before Spring Break).
School Organization
Jeff has invited Dr. Paul Baker to look at how Broadmoor Junior High School is organized. He will be designing an activity at a full faculty meeting next Wednesday, March 14. Dr. Baker will be in and out of the building periodically and may be visiting your classrooms to get a feel of the environment, etc…
Tornado Drill
There will be a tornado drill some time this month. You will be given an update on the plan as to where to go.
Next BILT meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 4, 2001.
