September, 2002

Have you ever wondered what kind of things your teachers do behind closed doors? Well here is the opportunity of a lifetime. We have asked some teachers some things we never knew, and ventured where no student has ever gone… the Twilight Zone.

Mrs. Wicker studied in France, and was a French teacher. Oo la la la!

“Now not many people know this, but I was an astronaut before I was a teacher. And before that I was a cowboy.” -Mr. Mendenhall Yee-haw!

“I am NOT married to Dr. Nelson!- Mrs. Nelson

“ I was a junior high cheerleader!”- Mrs. Stevens

-“ I fell in the lagoon when I was 12 years old. It was really gross! I would not recommend it!”- Mrs. Simpson

Hope she was a tall child!

I Just Love Hearing My Parents Say… By: Heidi VandeSchraaf
What’s your favorite thing to hear from your parents? I asked numerous people this question, and here are some responses. Charlie Swearingen, an eighth grade student at BJHS, stated that she loved to hear her parents say, “Want to go shopping?”. “I love you,” or “I’m proud of you” were other popular ananswers. Heather Jefford, an eighth grader at BJHS stated, “Yes, or Sure.” was her favorite thing to hear. Another popular response would be something to the effect as to “Here’s your allowance, or go buy yourself something.” Among others were, “You’re Grounded” said Mike Hogue. “I got a surprise for you.” said Lindsay Addy. The funniest one I have heard all day was, “Yes, you can date.” Stacia Munge said. “As if my dad would ever say that,” she stated. These are few examples of what we like to hear our parents say.
