Welcome to The Deep Freeze!

You are about to embark
on an incredible adventure of
excitement and discovery!

INTRODUCTION

For the past several weeks, we have been discussing the Arctic and Antarctic. We have talked about their location, their climate, and some of the life that exists in these remote and desolate locations. We’ve talked enough. Now it is time to explore on your own.

You have been organized into groups of 7-10 team members. You are going to plan an expedition to Antarctica. You will be given a budget, a list of supplies, and several different routes to choose from to complete your expedition. Along the way you will complete field experiments, complete a journal of your adventure, and accumulate data.

MISSION

When your expedition is complete, your team will present a public forum about their journey. As part of your journey, you will be required to perform weekly evaluations of your team members’ participation. For a sample of the peer rubric and other assessment items as well, go to the assessment section of this web page.
