IMPORTANT FEBRUARY DATES:

All parents of students from Teams 7J and 7B that are paying for the Outdoor Education program by the month should have already made payments for November and December. The total payment of $45 may be paid at anytime.

Student Council is keeping busy preparing for our annual blood drive with

the Red Cross. Parents are invited to donate blood on Thursday, Jan. 25th

from 3:30 - 7:00.

Student Council also held a dance on Jan. 5th. On February 9th, student

council will have a sweetheart dance from 6:00 - 8:00. This will be a

dress-up dance with dinner and pictures.

Teachers and administrators will begin the process of scheduling our seventh and eighth grade students for the upcoming school year. As has been part of our history, we would like to give parents an opportunity to express which team they would like their child to be placed in. Parent requests do not assure your child’s placement on a particular team, but will become one of many variables considered when placing students. All requests must be made in writing and be given to Dr. Nelson or Mr. Fairchild no later than March 31, 2001. No requests will be considered after that date. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Broadmoor.

Pekin Community High School will be visiting Broadmoor on Thursday, February 15, 2001 to distribute registration information to our 8^th grade students for the next school year. The counselors will return on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 to register 8^th grade students for the ninth grade.

There will be an evening orientation session for parents to attend at the F.M. Peterson Theatre beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2001.

PCHS has asked us to remind everyone that Channel 9 is their news bulletin station. You can tune in at any time to find out current information about important events.

Congratulations to the following students who made the 2001 scholastic bowl team coached by Ms. Haas. First game is February 15 at 3:30 at Broadmoor Junior High School.

Whitney Farrell, Cole Mitzelfelt, John Mattheessen, Zach Waldmeier, Ryan Godke, Ryan Sangalli, and Justin Thousand.

Choir held another try-out January 17 and the following students were added to the team:

Stefanie Lieske, Lauren McKenzie, Victoria Barner, Ashley Bennett, Christina Kolesar, Jenny Marvel, Chris Heine, Josh Maile, and Tommy Moore.

Congratulations to the following girls made the volleyball team for 2001:

7^th grade team – Stephanie Collins, Laura Fandel, Sara Loete, Hannah Milburn, Kelly Poole, Sarah Simpson, Allie Crouch, Jessica Duden, Elizabeth Holeman, Brittany Lofton, Nicole Reinking, and Kaleigh Tarpley.

8^th grad team – Bridgette Feeney, Amber Garcia, Jennifer Grossweiler, Haley Renner, Holly Sarff, Amanda Tennell, Ashley Tisdale, Leslie Foreman, Cali Gambetti, Bethany Roach, Marianne Rossi, and Christine Thompson.

Dear Eighth Grade Parents,

We need your cooperation and assistance to make our eighth grade recognition night in May a success. Our goal is to continue to maintain the tradition of making our ceremony a dignified event. We feel that all parents along with your sons/daughters deserve the opportunity to enjoy the special recognition you receive on this evening. Therefore, we are asking for your cooperation in the following areas:

• Each family limit attendance to four people. This will provide ample space for all parents and families to enjoy the ceremony.

 

• Be respectful of each other during the ceremony. Children attending the ceremony must sit with their parents and remain seated at all times and refrain from screaming or yelling.

 

• If you are planning to take pictures or video tape the ceremony that you are courteous to other families who are in attendance. We recommend that if you are planning to video tape or take pictures that you arrive early to establish your seating in the most convenient location.

 

• It is not necessary for students to dress formally for the evening. Girls can wear nice spring skirts, pant outfits, etc. Wearing a formal dress is not a requirement. Boys can wear nice casual clothes such as cotton dress slacks and a nice shirt and a tie if desired.

 

• We strongly discourage renting limousines for this event. Please keep in mind that our students are in junior high school and are not graduating from high school or college.

With your cooperation and support we can make our ceremony a truly dignified celebration of the successes of our students over the past two years.
