Mr. Noonen, 7B Broadmoor science teacher, Dan Rees, Edison science teacher, and Linda Norman, Edison learning center teacher, recently went to Albuquerque, N.M. to present the results of the ISU/PDS Summer Science Workshop. The purpose of the ISU/PDS Science Workshops was to train teachers to use available technology to increase the science achievement of elementary students in Pekin School District #108.Teachers designed PowerPoint presentations around problem-based lessons utilizing the Illinois State Standards.      The workshop was led by Dr. Jerry Jinks and Dr. Terry Lorsbach of Illinois State University. Mr. Noonen, Mr. Rees, Mrs. Norman, Mr. Jinks and Mr. Lorsbach presented at the School Science and Math Association 2000 Convention. The title of the presentation was "Responding to Student Diversity Through Inquiry-Oriented, Asynchronous Science Learning Centers." 

     Mr. Noonen took a digital camera with him to Albuquerque and took some great photos of the city, landscape, Old Town shopping district, Sandia Peak mountains and Santa Fe.
