ISBE Information on School Improvement Plans

ISBE offers the following template and supporting information for schools submitting School Improvement Plans.

The template is optional for all schools that have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).

The template and rubric are mandated for schools identified for Corrective Action, explained below.

School Improvement Plan Template

ISBE Information for Schools and Districts Identified for Corrective Action.

An exact description of "Corrective Action" (CA) is given in "ISBE Guidance for Schools under Corrective Action -- AYP."  Basically, CA begins at the end of the second consecutive year a school fails to make AYP and continues until that school has made AYP for two consecutive years.  Making "Safe Harbor" allows a school to remain at the then current level of CA, but does nothing to advance the school out of CA.
