If I were to think what it would be like to be a teacher a year ago, my thoughts would have been very different than they are now.  Throughout my year long experience in Pekin, I have learned so much about the teaching profession.  Not only have I learned new teaching strategies and techniques, but I have been able to see everything that goes into this profession.  It is amazing to realize all of the responsibilities a teacher really has.  In turn, I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to take part in all of these roles, whether it is attending a district meeting or conferencing with a parent.  The PDS program has given me the opportunity to feel confident in all areas.  All of the things I have learned have made me realize just how much I love to teach.  Being around children energizes me on a daily basis.  They make me smile and laugh everyday.  My biggest joy this year has been seeing students become interested and excited about something I have taught.  To know they have gained knowledge and want to learn more about a new concept is the biggest reward for a teacher.  I look forward to many more moments like this in the future.
