Teaching is a profession that requires passion. I have always dreamt of being a teacher from my early days in elementary school. However, a dream only remains fantasy until it is realized and lived. I have taken many steps towards becoming a successful teacher. Many of my extra curricular activities and job experiences relate to the profession, and I have always had this goal of becoming an educator in mind.
One of the most beneficial strides I have taken is joining the Pekin Professional Development School, a year long student teaching experience. This rigorous program requires double the work but produces competent first year teachers. During the course of my student teaching I have tried various strategies to reach my students' multiple intelligences and I have tapped into various resources such as other teachers, books, and technology to further my instruction. I am always trying to learn new ways to teach and encouraging students to reach their full potential.
My willingness to learn and improve, as well as my work ethic during this program has provided me with a significant realization. The realization that I will be successful, that I am indeed a student and teacher at heart, brought more confidence, clarity, and strength to my convictions and commitment to teaching than words can express. Upon realization, I ceased to dream, and began to live my dream.
