My name is Heather Meyer. I am a graduate of Illinois State University. I graduated on May 13, 2006, magna cum laude, with a Bachelors of Science in Education. I am endorsed in Middle School, Language Arts, and Social Science.
I began my college career in August 2002, by attending Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Illinois. I took a variety of courses in order to earn my associate's degree in arts and science. I then transferred to Illinois State University, ISU, in the fall of 2004.
In the fall of 2005, I began interning with the Pekin Professional Development School. I had the opportunity to participate in a yearlong internship in District 108. While taking my methods courses, I was also spent eight weeks interning in a second grade class. Then I spent the next eight weeks in a sixth grade class. I returned to my second grade class to student teach for sixteen weeks with Mrs. Traci Craig.
I have always wanted to be a teacher because my teachers have always had a tremendous impact on me. I am hoping to have the same impact on my future students. I enjoy helping people, which has also led me to choosing this career.
