Reflections

When I started out with my major in education, I did not realize all that went into teaching.  I have learned a great deal over the years.  All of my classes have taught me a lot about the education process but it wasn't until my senior year where I worked with students on a regular basis, that everything started making sense.  Reading textbooks and writing papers isn’t as meaningful as the real life experiences I had with teaching.

By choosing to take part in the Pekin PDS experience, I have learned more than I could have imagined.  I have learned so many techniques and strategies that will be beneficial for me as I take on a teaching position.  Also, I have formed so many lasting relationships within Pekin School District 108 that I have treasured and will continue to treasure in the future.  I could not have imagined being a part of any other program.

Throughout this past year, I have not only grown as a teacher, but also as a person. I have been given the opportunity to challenge myself and try any type of instruction that I felt would benefit my students while having the support and guidance that was needed.  This internship has made me more confident than ever that teaching is where I belong.

I am so thankful for everything this internship has given for me.  A part of me is sad to be leaving all of the students and staff that I have grown to know and care for; however, I am extremely eager to take on a classroom of my own.
