Hello! My name is Trina Rodriguez and I am from Chillicothe, Illinois. I will be graduating from Illinois State University on May 13, with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I will also have endorsements in language arts, social science, and middle school.
Chillicothe is a very small town where I grew up with two older brothers, my mom, and my dad. When I was growing up, I was like a little mother. I had younger cousins who I took care of all the time. At the age of 12 I started babysitting my neighbors down the street. Since I began babysitting, I knew that I wanted to do something with children when I got older. It was in eighth grade when I decided to become a teacher. There was a special day called Career On Wheels and our counselors came around to ask us what we wanted to be when we grew up. When my counselor asked me, there was no hesitation when I said a teacher. From that day on, my mind was set and here I am today, just about to officially become a teacher. It is amazing how fast time goes by.
I must be honest, at first I wanted to be an elementary art teacher. My passion for art is huge. Oil painting is my favorite thing to do when I have spare time. It is amazing what you can create when you use a little imagination. The greatest thing is that children have the biggest imagination and the most creative art. I knew that I wanted to help children learn more than just art, so I decided to be an elementary teacher and try to incorporate art into all subjects. Well, I did that this year and it was incredible to see how well my students learned their content because they were able to be creative with it.
Okay, it seems that you know a little more about me, so I hope you enjoy the rest of my portfolio. Oh, by the way, if you forget everything you see, just remember this:
“Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.”
