As I look back at my year spent in the Professional Development School, I see how much I have grown in my teaching abilities. In August, I began the school year feeling very nervous and somewhat overwhelmed. Now, looking at all of the valuable information that I have learned throughout the year, I feel that I am a very prepared and confident teacher ready to have a classroom of my own.
By participating in the PDS, I have been able to spend an entire school year in a classroom. Through this experience, I have been able to witness many things that occur throughout the school year such as parent orientation night, the first week of school, parent teacher conferences, and different types of staff meetings. All of these experiences have prepared me for what I may expect as I work in a school district next year.
I feel extremely privileged to have been able to spend the past year in this program. I have been able to work with some amazingly supportive people this year and have learned so much about how to become an effective teacher. Because of my experience in the Professional Development School, I feel that I am ready to teach in my own intermediate classroom.
