Reflections

This past year has been both memorable and rewarding.  It’s hard to believe that this journey began just a year ago.  I was excited about the opportunity to take part in the year long PDS internship and my actual experience far outweighed my expectations.

My partnership with my two mentors was instrumental in my success this year.  Their combined seventy-three years of teaching experience gave me an inside glimpse into real world education that could never be duplicated in a textbook.  They are exemplary examples of what an effective teacher should be and supported me in all that I attempted.  I am thankful for their leadership, their compassion, and their friendship.

The Professional Development School has prepared me for what lies ahead.  While many traditional student teachers begin their first year of teaching feeling overwhelmed and unsure, I feel like I'm about to start my second year of teaching!  This is due to the support and leadership of my liaison, my mentors, the ISU instructors, and the staff and administration of District 108.

Finally, I would like to thank my family.  They have stood behind me, encouraged, and supported me during this journey.  Even though there were a few bumps along the way, I wouldn't change a thing.  All that I've learned and all that I've accomplished has made me the teacher that I am today.
