My name is Jennifer Schrieber. I was born and raised in Green Valley, Illinois. I attended Illinois Central College where I earned my Associates in Arts and Science. I then transferred to Illinois State University and majored in Elementary Education. During my senior year, I participated in the ISU/Pekin Professional Development School Program (PDS). It is a year long student teaching internship with Pekin Public Schools District 108.
As part of the PDS program, I have been able to experience many aspects of the teaching profession. I welcomed students at the beginning of the school year, participated in district/school improvement meetings, and parent-teacher conferences. While taking my methods courses, I spent eight weeks interning in a third grade class at L.E. Starke Elementary School. Then I spent the next eight weeks in a fifth grade class at Wilson Intermediate School. I returned to my third grade class to student teach for sixteen weeks with Mrs. Lystila who is the best mentor in the entire world! I have learned so much from her and have truly grown as an educator because of her.
I graduated with a Bachelor in Education from Illinois State University.. I have been hired by Midwest Central Primary School to teach third grade for the 2007 - 2008 school year. So that meansI will be spending my summer preparing myself and my classroom for my new students.
