“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” –William Butler Yeats
I believe that it our responsibility as educators to create a safe environment that encourages all students to be life long learners. As an educator, I am passionate about learning as well as teaching and modeling enthusiasm in my daily lessons. I feel that it is my role as an educator to be more of a facilitator. Student learning is much more permanent and meaningful if it is done through discovery. By allowing students to fulfill their natural curiosity, students will learn more actively. This type of teaching allows students to be active in their own learning. This in turn leads for them to take more ownership in their education. All these translate into the students achieving more and I hope each student in my class leaves with high self-esteem and a great value for themselves and each other.
