My name is Kathleen Prentice and I grew up in Roselle, Illinois. I graduated from Lake Park High School in three years because I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I had very early made the decision to work with children and wanted to pursue that as quickly as possible.

I then began searching for the right college. I found that Illinois State University was a great college to attend when pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. After attending about two and a half years, I was introduced to the Pekin Professional Development Program. I was made aware of the great possibilites that lay within this program and decided that I wanted to become a part of it.

After being interviewed and accepted into the program, I was very excited to begin. I started my year long internship in August within a second grade classroom. In about October, I then moved to a fourth grade classroom where I remained until graduation in May 2007.
