Educational Philosophy

“A teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the pupil with a desire to learn is hammering on a cold iron." -Horace Mann

I believe that all children can learn. As an educator, it is my responsibility to provide a risk free environment in which all children can work up to their potential, find success and become life long learners.

Creating a risk free environment for learning allows students to work up to their full potential. I strive to create a learning environment that gives students the opportunity to feel free to succeed and to fail, for both are experiences that they will learn from. Learning from personal experience provides students with the tools they need to work to their full potential. A risk free environment allows students to explore their own abilities. It also ensures that underachieving students have the opportunity to work up to their ability and low achieving students have an opportunity to succeed.

Providing my students with opportunities to experience learning sets them up for success. I want my students’ education to be driven by their own natural curiosity so they become life long learners. When students search for knowledge to find answers to their own questions, they are learning to be effective problem solvers and independent learners. Student centered instruction, hands on activities and authentic situational learning help students realize the importance and relevance of education in their lives.

My philosophy is constantly changing as I reflect on my own personal experiences and learn from them.
